One Step Forward, 20,000 Backwards

Well the south has risen again, this time calling the the athletically inclined to take up arms....long White arms that is, against the tyranny that is "street ball" and join the 'Whites only' basketball league. And here I thought we already had a WNBA!

The Augusta Chronicle reported last week that the All-American Basketball Alliance, the brain child of former pro wrestler promoter Don "Moose" Lewis plans to kick off its inaugural season in June and hopes that Augusta will be one of 12 cities to host teams. Clever marketing idea or blatent segregation? Perhaps it's both!

According to the Chronicle, Lewis said he wants to emphasize "fundamental basketball" instead of "street ball" played by "people of color."

"There's nothing hatred about what we're doing," Lewis told the paper. "I don't hate anyone of color."

Lewis pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' suspension for bringing a gun into the Washington Wizards locker room, and said, "Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?"

Ok, since "Moose" proposes a basketball league devoid of Negroes or any "foreign" players how will he determine what constitutes "White". According to a press release the newspaper and other Augusta media outlets received from the new league, "only players that are natural-born United State citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league." So what about the referee's? Must they also be "White"? Even though it was a "White" referee at the heart of the 2008 NBA betting scandal..Tim Donaghy. Maybe they'll use monekys as ref's?!!?

And Now For SOmething Completely Different......If Only!

Why those sneaky bastards in the Democratic controlled Senate! They have muscled through a plan to allow the government to go a whopping $1,9 trillion dollars deeper in debt!

The party-line 60-40 vote was successful only because Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown has yet to be seated. Sixty votes were required to approve the increase. The measure would lift the debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion. That's about $45,000 for every American. About $44, 999 to many for this Americans pocket.

When will the borrowing insanity stop?

Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Holocaust denier, and the main political leader of the Alliance Of Builders Of Islamic Iran Mahmoud Amadenijad has issued yet another threat. This time he promises to deliver "a harsh blow to what he calls "global arrogance" on February, the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. That pivotal event in 1979 saw the overthrow of the Iran Monarchy under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and its replacement with an Islamic republic under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution. It has been called an event that "made Islamic fundamentalism a political force ... from Morocco to Malaysia."[

How ironic that Amadinejad would speak of anothers arrogance. To me arrogance is believing that your religion is the top religion and everyone else is an infidel! Arrogance is cracking down on the opposition believing that only YOUR party knows whats best for Iran. And arrogance is making threats to the world when you don't even have enriched uranium. Or does he?

So just how insane IS this Amadenijad and what do you think that this "harsh blow" will be?

The New Television Season

For those of us who have pretty much weaned ourselves from the monotony of nightly television, we do allow ourselves to enjoy a few broadcast moments every now and then. Well, then is NOW for me! Two shows that I have come to enjoy and that have returned are "24" and "LOST". Both of which have picked up right where they left off......drawing me in, and freaking me out, and thoroughly entertaining this old man (older!).

Here is a list of a few of the shows that I think are worth watching on television and that I watch:

1. "24"

2. LOST

3. "V"

4. Dexter

5. Weeds

6. Survivor

7. Sponge Bob

8. Fairly Odd Parents

9. MTV CRIBS

What do you like to watch on television? And which do you watch more of; cable, networks or premium channels (HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX)?

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Care

In his state of the union address on January 27, 2010, President Barak Obama called on congress to end "don't ask, don't tell". The following Tuesday the nations two top Defense officials supported that decision. And Defense Secretary Robert Gates says he intends to announce some changes to the “don't ask, don't tell” policy in the next 45 days.

Since the policy was implemented in 1993, an estimated 13,000 servicemen and servicewomen have been kicked out. And rightly so. It's a policy, vis a vie a military law. But what makes me madder than help is the fact that in all the rhetoric, and saber rattling, and name calling, not one person...NOT ONE, has talked about the rights of the heterosexual solider. No one has asked how THEY feel about the subject or talked about THEIR rights. Have they none?

So whats all the ruckess about? Lets look at the definition of the word homosexual: adj. Of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex. Tell me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that homosexuality boils down to sexual relations between persons of the same sex. As it stands under "don't ask don't tell", most enlisted personnel don't know if their fellow soilders are homosexual or not. They are forced to keep their sexual preferences to themselves and under cover, just as most respectable heterosexual men and women do. No one needs to know your sexual preference. I personally don't care and I don't think most people do either. But if they repeal this policy, you will have homosexual demonstrations, eventual segregation, and ultimately anarchy in the military. Therefore, by changing the current "don't ask, don't tell" policy and allowing openly homosexual activity is just asking for trouble. Not to mention that it doesn't take into account the feelings of the heterosexual soilder and totally infringes upon their rights.

While I personally think that homosexuality has no place in the military (nor women in the infantry or on the front lines), the policy should be left as is. I think that President Obama is making a terrible mistake calling on Congress to repeal "don't ask, don't tell", and is clearly pandering to the homosexual minority who voted for him while ignoring the heterosexual majority that put him in office.

So, should Congress repeal "don't ask, don't tell"? Modify it? Leave it as is? Or do you have a better solution?

Burn Baby Burn......Seriously!

I swear sometimes I feel as if I just landed on this planet! News and information at my fingertips and yet I still can discover stories that have been in the public domain for years yet have somehow still eluded me.

Take for instance the story about the Pennsylvania town of Centralia that has been on fire since 1962! Amazing at that sounds it's completely true. Not an above ground fire, but an underground mine fire that began in 1962 and continues today. As a result of this disaster more than 1,000 people moved out, and 500 structures were razed under a $42 million federal relocation program.

Here's what happened, the fire began at the town dump and ignited an exposed coal vein. It could have been extinguished for thousands of dollars then, but a series of BONE-HEAD bureaucratic moves and a lack of funding allowed the fire to grow into a hungry monster — feeding on millions of tons of slow-burning anthracite coal in the abandoned network of mines beneath the town.

At first, most Centralians ignored the fire. Some denied its existence, choosing to disregard the threat. But that changed in the 1970s, when carbon monoxide began entering homes and sickening people. The beginning of the end came in 1981, when a cave-in sucked a 12-year-old boy into a hot, gaseous void, nearly killing him. The town divided into two warring camps, one in favor of relocation and one that wanted kids to continue get sucked in hot, gaseous voids!

This is wild. So with a seemingly unlimited supply of fuel for the fire in the form of coal and oxygen, that fire could conceivably burn for...........EVER! And what about the relocatees? I wonder how difficult it was pick up and leave the only life you have ever known to be relocated in a different state or town? And it looks like the remaining dozenor so citizen hold outs are having their homes raized and are themselves going to relocate.
